Topic: How to get F-1 visa to come to the United State of America?
To come and study in another country is a dream and a purpose for many students, who want to be successful, and have a challenge in their life. Studying in the United State of America is more difficult for students in Vietnam. To make a dream come true, it could take a long time and a great effort. However, some people cannot get a F1 Visa to come to America; because, they don’t know how to apply to a US college or university or they cannot persuade the consular officer that they have enough money, the ability to study, and the ability to live in America. There are many things a student will need in order to prepare; such as, get a passport, translate academic transcripts, show proof of family finances, apply to the US college or university, and apply for a student visa at the U.S. Embassy. The three main steps in this process are applying to the US college or university, applying for a student visa at the U.S. Embassy, and getting ready to come to the United State of America.
First, students have to look at the college or university in the USA for the major or subject they want. They need to read very carefully the information in the admission policies. Students should speak to the international students’ department of the college or university to get the necessary forms in order to apply. Once the student applies to the college or university, they will inform them of what they require in order to determine whether the student is academically eligible. Moreover, the student will have to prove to the school that he or she has enough money to support him or herself while studying at the college. This of course is considering the student is not working at that school in America. Also, the student will need money to buy health insurance in order to cover any medical expenses should they need any medical assistance. When the university determines that the application is complete, and the students are academically eligible, the college will grant an I-20 form to enable the students to apply for a student visa at the US Embassy.
When students have an I-20 form from the school, they are able to apply for a student visa at the US Embassy. Normally, this will be in the student’s home country in which he or she lives. When students apply at the consulate for a student visa, they will have many processes to do; one being, to pay $200 for the SEVIS fee before the interview. Another process for students includes filling out the application for the visa such as, the DS –156 form, the declaration of communication and working process DS-158, and the declaration sub-DS-157. Students obtain these forms at the embassy or on the internet. After filling out all the forms, students schedule a visa interview, by appointment, at the U.S. Embassy, by phone or by internet, and pay an interview fee of $131. When students go to the US embassy to interview, the interviewing officer will review all aspects of a student’s circumstances; such as, education, transcripts, financial capacity of the family, his or her plan in the future, as well as the intention to return to Vietnam. So, students will need transcripts and diplomas that they have been granted in the past, scores from tests required by schools; such as the TOEFL or SAT. Students will also have to provide to evidence of finances; such as, tax records, bank records, proof of income, and a business licenses that proves the students, and his or her parents, or sponsors have sufficient financial resources to cover tuition and living expenses when the student is studying in the United State of America. At the Embassy, the interviewing officer will ask the students many questions; such as, why he or she chose that school, what major the student chose, who will support him or her during his or her study, and questions about the student returning to Viet Nam when he or she finishes school. Students should answer these questions specifically, and true, and provide as many details of their study plan.
The last step in this process is to get ready to come to the United State of America. When the first two steps are finished, this student must prepare for study and living in America; such as, getting a dictionary, some notebooks, school supplies, medicine, and clothes for the winter. Finally, Students should book an airplane ticket to come to America two or three weeks before school begins.
In conclusion, the process to apply for a F-1 visa has three main steps. In this process, students must look and apply to a US college or university, apply for a student visa at the U.S. Embassy and get ready to come to the United State of America. To make their dream come true, they should follow these steps.
